Set in the 1940s, an English aristocrat travels to Australia to take over her deceased husband's ranch. In true western style, there is a local bigshot baddie intent on cornering the beef market, and her farm is his next target. She ropes in a local drover to help her drive a herd to market, and they get to know each other well along the way. Throw in a mixed-race adoptee and Japanese bombing campaigns, and all the necessary ingredients are in place for a sweeping epic, which borrows from many other famous movies of the past.
