This movie is one of Roger Corman's best. It presents an allegory of the racial tensions that still existed in the deep south in the 1950s/60s. The movie's villainous preacher is expertly performed by the always over-the-top William Shatner. It also features other good performances from the other members of the cast as well as some unexpected performances from non-actors. The script is really tight and really well-written by the great Charles Beaumont, and the directing … mehris classic Roger Corman, cheap, smart and good. The interviews from Corman and Shatner are also fun and offer a look at the behind-the-scenes ingenuity of Corman. weniger
